Shearer’s Six Mile
Shearer’s Six Mile is an opal field on the eastern side of Nebea Hill, close by to Thorley’s Six Mile and McDonald’s Six Mile fields (all three fields are named for their distance from the post office).
Neville Bell found the Red Robin stone here on his claim of the same name, in 1970. Red Robin was a 25 carat stone that was reportedly sold for $10,000 per carat. The Red Robin claim was eventually open cut.
