Harry Zack
Wilhelm Erich “Harry” Zack (sometimes spelled Sack, Sach, Sachs), was a Grawin opal miner born in Germany. He was born in 1887 to parents August Hermann Sack and Anna Clara Matilda Gohre.
Harry arrived in Lightning Ridge in 1920, and was a miner at Lightning Ridge and The Grawin for over fifty years.
Harry had one of the best claims at the Grawin in 1927, and his rustic hut still stands on the opal fields.
Harry’s car was a 1928 Ford.
Harry Zack passed away in Dubbo in 1976 at the age of 89 and is buried at Western Districts Memorial Park in Dubbo.
